Avalon Nursing home is one of the oldest in the country and was first opened in 1968. It is located in the Hampden Park area of Eastbourne, close to Hampden Park and St Marys Church and a short walk from Hampden Park shopping centre and train station.

It has two wings, one for 22 residents who have pure nursing needs and a New Wing for 16 patients who have EMI Nursing requirements.

Nursing Wing

The Nursing home in Eastbourne is based in a large, detached, converted building with private front and rear gardens situated in Hampden Park on the outskirts of Eastbourne. Situated near an attractive park it is within walking distance of the village, with easy access to shops, public transport, GP’s and dental surgeries.

On the ground floor of the nursing wing there are 10 single and 2 double rooms, an entrance hall, a large lounge/dining room area with sufficient space for group activities, a conservatory area, clinical area, 2 sluice rooms, 2 assisted bathrooms, 3 further WC’s, kitchen and store room, staff room with toilet and changing facilities and the matron’s office.

On the first floor of the nursing wing there are 4 single bedrooms and 1 double bedroom, 1 assisted bathroom, a WC suitable for use by disabled people and a sluice.

Dementia Nursing Wing

Recently this Eastbourne Nursing Home opened a Dementia wing based in a detached house with 2 floors which is linked directly to the nursing wing.

On the ground floor of the Dementia Nursing wing there is a large lounge/dining & conservatory area providing sufficient space for all Dementia residents, 1 assisted bathroom, 6 bedrooms – all having en-suites and 5 of which are provided with a wet room facility.

On the first floor there are 10 bedrooms all of which have en-suites and 7 of which are provided with a wet room facility. In addition there is a communal wet room and toilet, sluice & wheelchair access via a ramp.
