Work in Mind

Description

A free service that provides tailored employment support to help people with mental health challenges secure or retain work.

We provide one to one support to help you:

  • secure or retain paid work, part or full time
  • secure voluntary work and work experience as a stepping-stone to achieving paid employment
  • progress education, qualifications and courses
  • address barriers that are preventing you from accessing work
  • develop skills to improve your confidence and self-esteem
  • improve your physical and mental health and wellbeing

The service is for adults living in East Sussex who are experiencing common mental health challenges, such as anxiety and depression, and are accessing Health in Mind services.

Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, Southdown support people’s interests, skills, strengths, experiences and goals. People will be allocated a dedicated Employment Specialist, supported to develop a back to work, or job retention plan and if required will continue to receive support once in work.

The practical activities on offer include: • Rapid job search • CV and applications • Interview techniques • How and when to disclose mental health to an employer • Support when starting a job or course • Support to retain current employment, including direct liaison with employers where required, and the implementation of reasonable adjustments in the workplace

Who is eligible for this service? This is a free service open to adults (18+) living in East Sussex, offering people accessing psychological therapies the opportunity to receive specialist employment support at the same time.
