Description

The Age UK Brighton & Hove Advocacy Service

  • provides free, independent support and representation to older people who have difficulty representing their interests
  • aims to support older people to resolve difficult situations
  • prioritises those who lack other sources of support. 

A volunteer advocates enable you to express your needs and wishes, exercise your rights and to make informed choices. An advocate will support you for the time it takes to address a specific issue or problem.

 

The advocacy relationship will enable you to identify the problem, understand relevant information, make informed decisions and plan how to proceed, as well as being listened to and understood. This will increase your confidence  and well-being. 

Advocates can help you to access services, activities and opportunities and to be responded to appropriately by service providers and others.
