What is the Sussex coldAlert service?


coldAlert is a free service which alerts carers, health professionals, family, friends or anyone who cares for vulnerable people to severe cold weather events before they happen.

coldAlerts are sent to help people prepare for a cold weather events.  Receiving a coldAlert 24 to 48 hours prior to a ‘cold snap’ can help you to prepare by warming the home, ensuring supplies of food or medicines are stocked up, and that elderly or vulnerable friends or relatives stay safe indoors during extreme cold conditions. 

coldAlerts are sent direct to you 24 to 48 hours before a cold weather event is expected by text, automated voice messages (to home phones) via mobile phone App or by email - it’s easy and free
coldAlert runs from November to March.



Who should register for coldAlerts?  

Receiving coldAlerts could be beneficial to carers of elderly relatives or friends, parents of young children, people with breathing difficulties or people with poor mobility, arthritis or heart conditions.
