Befriending schemes help combat loneliness by offering vital companionship and emotional and practical support.
The schemes generally involve volunteers or paid befrienders visiting you in your own home to provide companionship. They may also involve transport provision, picking up medications, shopping, putting the bins out and other small jobs around the home.
The Good Neighbour Scheme is a befriending programme developed by East Sussex Adult Social Care & Health working with five community and voluntary organisations.
